Jodha Akbar - Kudos to Asutosh, Hrithik, Rahman !!

After Lagaan and Swadesh, Asutosh has come out with a brilliant execution of the (real ?) love story between Mogul Emperor Salaludhin Akbar and Hindu Rajput Princess Jodha Bai. During the beginning of the movie, they declare that there are various stories based on the history but the one they shot is the one they framed after lot of research into history. leaving the history part aside...
From a picture perspective, the movie has got all the contents in it in equal amount.
Most of the time the period movies (Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh) flops because of its screenplay, pain in execution(with 1000 additional actors), Known Story -read in various history books. But "Jodha Akbar" ain't that cateogory. it's a master piece because of
1) Hrithik's presence as grand mogul "Akbar"...his dialogue delivery skills (Mr.Saxena, at his best ). Chemistry between him and Jodha "Aish". His dance during the Sufi song.(WOW...)

2)Mr.Nithin Desai for his grandly erected sets and Ms.Neeta Lulla's costumes.

3)Brilliant photography of Kiran Deohans Photography...Generally asutosh goes with Anil metha or Mahesh Aney. but this time, it is different different person. his wide camera angles during the war scenes are too good.

4) Rahman's Music - Excellent background score - My favourite songs are Sufi Kwali "Kwaja Mere Kwaja" and Sonu Nigam and Madhushree 's romantic piece titled “In lamhon ke daaman mein”. trumpets and the drums in “Azeem O Shaan Shehenshah”.

GO and watch the movie in theater...don't miss it
My rating is 8/10
We have to be really proud among ourselves to get such rare historic epics made during our life time. Asutosh sir....Kudos to you and your team.

Thaipusam (Tamil: தைப்பூசம்) (or Thai Poosam Kavady) is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.

When i grew up in madurai, my mum used to take me and my brother to Thiruparankundram for lord subramanya's blessings. last july, when i was in india, i didn't miss the opportunity to visit this wonderful place that too on a weekday(monday, i guess ?) for a peaceful "Paal abhisaegam".

I happened to see this movie last weekend and it is based on McCarthy Novel of Same name. These kind of movies are based on fate and chances which requires a stimulating screenplays, which this movie has. Kudos to spanish actor who comes as villan and occupies the whole movie with his pitiless killings with Captive bold pistol.
No wonder this movie has been nominated for 8 Academy awards.
Must watch. my rating is 8/10.

Sir, Please stop signing periodic films. I listened to your Jodha Akbar's Album and i was not expecting a music as par with Swades or Lagaan, as i knew Jodha is a pre-historic novel,etc. Nevertheless, the music is not very impressive apart from that "Shenshah" song. Anyway, am gonna listen to the songs again and again, as i see a very impressive music group on the CD.

btw, Congrats for the NDTV Award.

Kudos to Aamir Khan and Amol Gupte(script writer) who was challenged by stupid movie maker bhansali (when aamir had negative opinion on BLACK movie) gang asking him to make a movie which is not manipulative. Here is the movie of flawless true story from a sincere director. bhai log of bollywood and feroz nadiawala-priyadharsan gang ( sick of their comedies now) ...pls try to watch these kind of movies and see if u guys can present something better for coming generation.

Nice photography(Mr.Setu..who is this guy?), Good songs by Shankar, Eshan, Loy, Very catchy lyrics by RDB fame Mr.Prasoon Joshi.

What kind of deepavali it is without movie flicks ? but this time, i do not want to watch either VEL or ATM.
Looks like , king Khan's OSO is the only movie receiving OK kind feedback from all sorts of visitors.
But still i hesitated to watch this farah khan's flick,as her MHN was good but lot of stupid brother sentiment in between was not appealing though.
There were innumerous warnings against Saawariya which is supposed to be Top 1 movie on "Worst made movies list".I would certainly watch OSO as my fav cinematographer's Manikandan.

Bhansali saabh, stop remaking old english and hindi flicks. You have already made an idiotic flick like Black which brought out over acting capablities of amitabh and rani. i taught u wud try something new this time with saawariya. Only Saaby Cyril's exotic sets and Ravi.K.Chandran's DI Camera can't decide movie's success. Even monty sharma's song didnt click. You should have given it to Ismail dharbar.There is something called story and screenplay. Do watch how hindi young directors like Sriram Raghavan (Johnny Gaddar), Anurag kashyap (Black Friday, No Smoking), Nagesh Kukkunoor are doing their kool work.

Apparently, Johnny G came out as a third good thriller for me in 2007 after Martin Scorsese's Departed and Zodiac. Kudos to this Guy. He has certainly good future.

Shivaji Festival in Phoenix

Last Friday, it was diwali time in Tempe Cinema as our Shivaji - The boss's arrived there for first show. Cheerful crowd were wearing shivaji t-shirt and started queuing up from 7:30PM for 9:30PM show. Most of the crowd was from arizona state university and we entered theatre hall at 9PM. They started playing shivaji audio song in order to control crowd's whistling sounds. Finally the show started and whole crowd stood up and cheered up "thalaivar vazhga". Front row audience did aarthi and pooja when thaliavar arrived on screen. Audience formed trains and ran around theatre.

Wow! thalaivar was looking awesome in the movie. is he really 58 ? howz he maintaining his health ? whats the secret behind his powerful eyes ?
Few enjoyable scenes in the movie were:
1) "Panninga thaandaa Kootamaa varum. Singam Singilaa thaan varum" - thalai
2) "Kai veesamaa Kai veesu." - Chinni Jayanth
3) "La kala kala kala kala" - Livingston
4) "Atheradee Song"
5) Mottai boss entry

Shivaji rocks ! Its a one in life time experience.

One more superstar in the movie was kv.anand and his Digi Interchange 4K resolution Photography where a single frame grabbed out is 48MB size.
Kudos to sujatha's dialogue and ARR's Music.
Shankar's 2 year hard work is showing up.
Thanks to AVM for making this mass entertainment movie.
