Just for a brief while, Tamil seemed to be the language of the evening. At the front of the auditorium, when Mr Chidambaram and his wife Nalini walked in, they were greeted in Tamil first by Dr and Mrs C Rangarajan, and then by Mallika and Venu Srinivasan. Mr and Mrs N Vaghul then joined in. With Indra Nooyi’s mother Shantha Krishnamurthy and TCS’ Ramadorai within hearing distance, you’d be forgiven if you thought you were in Chennai.
